Dirk Schwenk is an award winning singer-songwriter from the great state of Maryland.  His formal training includes years of clarinet and symphonic band, but he found rock and roll as a late-addition bass player in the High School talent show, and never went back.  He has been singing, playing guitar and songwriting ever since, and has played for crowds at many of Maryland’s best rock venues, including the Recher Theater, Rams Head Live and of course Annapolis’ own The Whiskey.  Set lists start with great original music but include everything from Johnny Cash to Jimmy Buffet and the Ramones.  Just as long as its a great song (and maybe even better a drinking song with a Country edge) and we’re having as good a time as we can with our time on earth.  This event will be a return to Dirk’s roots: he was married aboard the Woodwind in August, 1995.

Throughout her still young career, ANJ has made her mark on many facets of the music industry, yet songwriting remains her first love. In January 2014, she released her third studio album, “The Giant Unquiet”, which was funded by her fans who donated $15,000 on ANJ calls the record (which was co-produced by Grammy Award-Winning Producer Otto D’Agnolo), a concept album that explores the “battle between faith and fear in the artist’s mind”. Her two previous releases, “When Grey Blushes” (2007) and “Coin and a Half Girls” (2004), as well as her steadfast touring of much of the east/west coasts, have helped her created the loyal fan base that made that crowd-funding campaign possible.

After moving out of her apartment and selling all of her belongings in 2013, ANJ recently launched her first blog, entitled “SeeSirenGo.Com” which will chronicle her touring adventures on the road, as she lives full-time in her 19-foot, Class-B Roadtrek RV.

ANJ has also flexed her muscles in the realm of TV/Film composition. In 2009, she was signed to a 5-year-contract (as one of the youngest composers to the company) to write music for several day-time talk shows, and has since had many instrumental pieces featured on the “OWN Network”. In 2008, her music also was licensed to Q. Music Collective for use on the CW network.

Over the past 5 years, ANJ has also won several songwriting competitions. She was the grand-prize in the John Legend “Be Legendary” Contest, the winner of the “Rising Star” Open Mic at the World Cafe in Philadelphia, and a finalist in both the “Independent World Music Series” Contest and the “VH1 Song of the Year” Contest. ANJ’s song “Former Stranger” was also licensed by AUR records for a compilation CD alongside Amy Winehouse, which was released in Europe and South Korea. Lastly, ANJ was chosen as a featured artist by A&R company “TAXI” in a full-page ad that is now running in several national magazines including Acoustic Guitar, American Songwriter, Recording Magazine, and more.

“Take away the sunlight at the end of the day and we are all left in shadow. It is here in the emotional dusk that ANJ crafts stories about the apparitions and wraiths that trouble her heart. The result is one of the most striking and darkly beautiful albums I’ve heard… “When Grey Blushes” is sublime.”- Wildy’s World Magazine

On a cold night in the middle of February, Sara Davenport and Brian Franke finally met for the first time in person. They both knew of each other through fellow music friends for several months and after talking and hearing each other play, made an instant connection. Soon after meeting they began attending one another’s shows and supporting each other’s music careers.

Both Sara and Brian quickly learned about the other’s passion for music. As separate singer/songwriters in the Washington, DC area, they performed frequently solo and in their other groups (The 3MTs for Sara and Twelve Strings for Brian) and wrote original songs. Outside of performing, the two were involved in music in other ways—Sara as a music teacher at an elementary school and Brian as a host of an open mic night as well as doing social media for other musicians. Music was constantly engrained into their daily lives and when they weren’t performing or pursuing other music endeavors, the two enjoyed sharing music with one another and going to live shows.

Before Sara and Brian even sang a song together, the relationship between the two grew stronger through more than just music. After both endured a very rough and challenging 2011, Sara and Brian fit together naturally, helping each other find themselves and get through their recent rough patches. They quickly realized they were falling for each other and becoming inseparable in their everyday lives.

It was not until August that an opportunity came along for Sara and Brian to play together. Much like their relationship, playing together came very naturally. Their voices blended incredibly well and even having only practiced a few hours, received warm responses from the audiences they played to. On stage they energize each other by being playful, passionate, and have impressed audiences at such venues as the Hard Rock Café, The Hamilton, Jammin Java, Iota, and many other others.

Since their first performance together they were hooked performing with each other and decided to officially start a duo together, calling themselves FarAway. Playing both cover songs as well as original music, the two began writing together in December 2012 and are currently recording an EP and planning their 2013 Summer Tour.

Since finishing school at Lehigh University, the Alaskan / Ghanaian / Ohioan and former college running back has made quite a splash on the East Coast’s music scene. Based out of Philadelphia, Kwesi K brings a witty, new, soulful sound to the scene.

Fresh off the release of “Pronouns,” 2013 found Kwesi K touring the Midwest and Northeast extensively, sharing the stage with the likes of Rosanne Cash, Antje Duvekot, Ellis Paul and Judith Hill (The Voice), and hitting the college circuit. As indie blogger Selfblown recently noted, “There’s something truly unique about his delivery and writing which harks back to his African descent, the drums, the wind instruments, the slightly gospel style backing vocals, it’s all seriously good.”

Kwesi K’s latest EP, Lovely, followed the singer’s 2013 successes into the spotlight with an international release on Inpartmaint/Agate, and local acclaims by music outlets such as JUMP Magazine and WXPN’s John Vetesse. The year ahead is full of touring, with main stage stops at the Philadelphia Folk Festival and World Cafe Live along the way
