Don Shappelle is a singer/songwriter from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He lives on the banks of the Susquehanna River so it is natural that many of his original songs are about this river in subject and spirit. Don also calls Perryville, Maryland home now. This is where the Susquehanna River flows into and becomes the Chesapeake Bay. After graduating from College Miseracordia in Pennsylvania with a degree in music, Don’s musical life has taken him to many places including time spent living and touring in Europe.

Don has also lived and performed in New York City and the Hudson Valley of New York where he collaborated with folk music legend Pete Seeger and others in The Clearwater Organization,a large group of people dedicated to cleaning the Hudson River. A Don Shappelle original tune “The Tugboat Song” was featured on the album “Broad Ole River” released by Pete Seeger and the Hudson River Sloop Singers. Don’s lifelong commitment and dedication to the environment and nature was truly awakened at that time.

After a trip to the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland many years ago Don fell in love with that region of water and shoreline, the land of pleasant living as it is traditionally called. His music has reflected this connection ever since. He has sung many times at waterfront gatherings and festivals, in support of cleaning the bay and its tributaries.

Illinois-born Ken Wenzel is a study in contradictions: a guitarist who plays saxophone, a singer who writes instrumentals, a purveyor of restless sentimentality who continues to search for truths best found within. As a singer-songwriter now based in Washington DC, Ken has been gaining attention locally and regionally with his midwestern-accented musings, telling stories spun from a life spent moving from town to town. Fittingly, he plays 200+ shows a year – all over the DelMarVa region, the eastern seaboard, the midwest, and south.

His first solo acoustic EP, “…this is cross kentucky”, released April 9, 2010, is a stripped-down, 7-song examination of desires and dreams both past and present. Tinged in Americana and country jazz, and featuring Ken’s dusty, wheat-cracked voice, “…this is cross kentucky” showcases the perspective and passions of a newly-arrived, yet seasoned singer/songwriter – one with a somewhat different story and background than most.

Born and raised in Champaign, Illinois, Ken studied classical saxophone at the University of Illinois before graduating from UNLV in Las Vegas, NV with a degree in jazz studies. Since then, he’s played all over the world: in Las Vegas casinos, on cruise ships in Northern Europe, Africa, and Asia, at Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan, on national tours of Broadway musicals, and at festivals including the 2004 Montreux Jazz Festival. As a saxophonist, Ken is an in-demand freelancer, having played with artists both locally and nationally- including, among others, Frankie Avalon, Ben Vereen, Bobby Parker, and Carlos Santana. He maintains an active performance schedule while pursuing his solo songwriting career and running a studio specializing in private saxophone and guitar instruction.

Bob is a nationally touring singer-songwriter based in Annapolis, Maryland. He burst onto the singer-songwriter circuit by playing in coffee houses, listening rooms, living rooms, and music festivals and by winning slots to perform in major songwriting contests like Kerrville Folk Festival, Mountain Stage, Wildflower, and Falcon Ridge. He has won the hearts of many judges, including a first prize honor at Wildflower from over 500 entries. Starting out as an opener for acts such as Ellis Paul, David Wilcox, Vance Gilbert, and Jesse Harris, Bob quickly built his headlining capability with his incredibly moving and trans-formative live performance.
He then focused his soulful energy, sharing music at spiritual centers, positive music festivals, and other events that promote personal growth and transformation. This led him on stage at events designed to deliver an intentional message. In March 2012 he performed his song “Be The Change” at the Be The Change National Conference and shared the stage with NY Times best-selling author and peace activist Marianne Williamson, who invited him to her event Sister Giant in November 2012.

Bob has played many of the top music venues in the US including: Kennedy Center, Rams Head OnStage, RamsHead LIVE!, World Cafe Live, MUSIKFEST, Godfrey Daniels, Cellar Stage, Columbia Lakefront Concert Series, NightCat, Purple Fiddle, Columbia Festival of the Arts, Kerrville Folk Festival, Wildflower Festival, Dewey Beach Americana Festival, Unity Music Festival, Avalon Music Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, National Folk Alliance Festival and Conference, and the Susquehanna Music and Arts Festival.

On a cold night in the middle of February, Sara Davenport and Brian Franke finally met for the first time in person. They both knew of each other through fellow music friends for several months and after talking and hearing each other play, made an instant connection. Soon after meeting they began attending one another’s shows and supporting each other’s music careers.

Both Sara and Brian quickly learned about the other’s passion for music. As separate singer/songwriters in the Washington, DC area, they performed frequently solo and in their other groups (The 3MTs for Sara and Twelve Strings for Brian) and wrote original songs. Outside of performing, the two were involved in music in other ways—Sara as a music teacher at an elementary school and Brian as a host of an open mic night as well as doing social media for other musicians. Music was constantly engrained into their daily lives and when they weren’t performing or pursuing other music endeavors, the two enjoyed sharing music with one another and going to live shows.

Before Sara and Brian even sang a song together, the relationship between the two grew stronger through more than just music. After both endured a very rough and challenging 2011, Sara and Brian fit together naturally, helping each other find themselves and get through their recent rough patches. They quickly realized they were falling for each other and becoming inseparable in their everyday lives.

It was not until August that an opportunity came along for Sara and Brian to play together. Much like their relationship, playing together came very naturally. Their voices blended incredibly well and even having only practiced a few hours, received warm responses from the audiences they played to. On stage they energize each other by being playful, passionate, and have impressed audiences at such venues as the Hard Rock Café, The Hamilton, Jammin Java, Iota, and many other others.

Since their first performance together they were hooked performing with each other and decided to officially start a duo together, calling themselves FarAway. Playing both cover songs as well as original music, the two began writing together in December 2012 and are currently recording an EP and planning their 2013 Summer Tour.

Throughout her still young career, ANJ has made her mark on many facets of the music industry, yet songwriting remains her first love. In January 2014, she released her third studio album, “The Giant Unquiet”, which was funded by her fans who donated $15,000 on Kickstarter.com. ANJ calls the record (which was co-produced by Grammy Award-Winning Producer Otto D’Agnolo), a concept album that explores the “battle between faith and fear in the artist’s mind”. Her two previous releases, “When Grey Blushes” (2007) and “Coin and a Half Girls” (2004), as well as her steadfast touring of much of the east/west coasts, have helped her created the loyal fan base that made that crowd-funding campaign possible.

After moving out of her apartment and selling all of her belongings in 2013, ANJ recently launched her first blog, entitled “SeeSirenGo.Com” which will chronicle her touring adventures on the road, as she lives full-time in her 19-foot, Class-B Roadtrek RV.

ANJ has also flexed her muscles in the realm of TV/Film composition. In 2009, she was signed to a 5-year-contract (as one of the youngest composers to the company) to write music for several day-time talk shows, and has since had many instrumental pieces featured on the “OWN Network”. In 2008, her music also was licensed to Q. Music Collective for use on the CW network.

Over the past 5 years, ANJ has also won several songwriting competitions. She was the grand-prize in the John Legend “Be Legendary” Contest, the winner of the “Rising Star” Open Mic at the World Cafe in Philadelphia, and a finalist in both the “Independent World Music Series” Contest and the “VH1 Song of the Year” Contest. ANJ’s song “Former Stranger” was also licensed by AUR records for a compilation CD alongside Amy Winehouse, which was released in Europe and South Korea. Lastly, ANJ was chosen as a featured artist by A&R company “TAXI” in a full-page ad that is now running in several national magazines including Acoustic Guitar, American Songwriter, Recording Magazine, and more.

“Take away the sunlight at the end of the day and we are all left in shadow. It is here in the emotional dusk that ANJ crafts stories about the apparitions and wraiths that trouble her heart. The result is one of the most striking and darkly beautiful albums I’ve heard… “When Grey Blushes” is sublime.”- Wildy’s World Magazine
