The local gourmet market that paid for 70% of the tickets partied with us through sunset. Most of them resisted the urge to witness the Venus transit across the sun while it was still high in the sky. Ben was not to be out done by any cosmic forces. He guided Woodwind II through a flight of beers: Woody Creek White, Snake Dog IPA, and the Road Dog Porter, while spitting stories of George Stranahan, Ralph Steadman, Hunter S. Thompson, and Richard McIntyre. If you’ve never heard of these folks, come sailing with us on Tuesday in June!
About Captain MikeCaptain Mike is a Chesapeake native and a resident of South Baltimore. He joined the Woodwind in 2010, after running traditional Chesapeake work boats focused on outdoor experiential education. Mike has managed sailboat fleets for a community sailing center in Baltimore City and a bareboat charter company in Annapolis. Mike enjoys sharing his interest in Chesapeake ecology and maritime culture.
